Plans for a new health and housing development in the heart of West Kirby, Wirral have moved a step closer following detailed consultation.
Wirral Partnership Homes (WPH) and NHS Wirral have resubmitted proposals to Wirral Borough Council to build energy efficient homes and a state-of-the-art health centre on land at Orrysdale Road.
Designs for the £10 million Bridge Court scheme have been refined following feedback from members of the public and officers at Wirral Borough Council.
A large, higher quality green open space has been proposed for the site with the number of homes being reduced from 58 to 48 to free up land.
A concerted effort has been made to retain as many trees as possible and any removed will be replaced along with other planting, increasing the overall total.
Access leading to the Nettle Hill apartments will remain unchanged.
Residents are now being encouraged to visit Wirral Borough Council's website and have their say to help shape the plans further.
Chief Executive at Wirral Partnership Homes, Brian Simpson, said: "The consultation process has been invaluable so far and has moved us a step closer to securing permission to develop the site.
"We have listened to what people have told us about the initial plans we presented and as part of the consultation period we are improving the designs to reflect their views.
"It is important in a community development scheme such as this that we respond to people's ideas and opinions because ultimately they will be using the facilities so we need them to be exactly right.
"The Bridge Court scheme has been created to address two vital areas of need in West Kirby: new homes to meet the demand of the local population and up-to-date health provision that people expect and deserve in the 21st Century."
